The malt factory is situated next to the silo complex and gets a direct feed from the silo through two linking, self-supporting conveyors. These enclosed conveyors allow for minimal grain-in-transit wastage.
The factory processes only yellow and white sorghum at present and carries out enzymatic and aromatic malting.
The operations involve a pneumatic process combined with manual handling. The whole malting operation can be divided into a wet process, where the active/desired part of the malt is developed and a dry process where wet malt (green malt) is gently dried until it is ready for deculming. After deculming, depending on customer requirements, the grain is the loaded out.
An added option of bulk load out is available on request from the malt storage silo unit.
